Rooted in villages.
Built on trust.

We carry India's largest last-mile agri network to the farmers markets overlook — landless, tribal, climate-vulnerable, and women-led households at the bottom of the pyramid.

Who we are

We are a global research and innovation institution creating knowledge, intellectual property, digital public infrastructure, and climate technologies that address complex societal challenges at scale.

Why DeHaat Foundation

Commercial platforms stop at the profitable farmer. We take it the rest of the way.

India has 146 million farm holdings. Even the most advanced platforms reach the bankable, literate, well-connected few. The bottom 40% — landless labourers, tribal and forest-dependent communities, women farmers, and climate-vulnerable geographies — remain structurally unviable as markets, yet are the most critical to food security.

DeHaat spent twelve years building the trust infrastructure a transformative non-profit needs: an advisory platform fluent in 30+ crops, the country's most extensive private agri-extension network, and a living dataset of farmer realities.

The Foundation is the vehicle that takes this infrastructure beyond commercial constraint — putting that expertise into the villages where climate vulnerability is highest, incomes are lowest, and the research commons should be free and open.

Programme architecture

Three pillars, built directly on our priority areas.

Every pillar is a flywheel — delivering direct farmer benefit while generating the data, IP, and infrastructure that strengthen the whole ecosystem.

Agri DPI & Open Digital Ecosystems

Open digital infrastructure, interoperable platforms, and digital marketplaces that strengthen agriculture and rural livelihoods — carried to the last mile by village navigators and voice-first advisory.

  • Open, de-identified agri-data commons & interoperable APIs
  • AgriStack integration, e-NAM & ONDC market linkage
  • 15,000 DeHaat Saathis as village-level digital navigators
  • IVR advisory in 8 regional languages

Deep Research & Innovation

Applied research, breakthrough technologies, and intellectual property that address real-world challenges — unlocking one of India's richest farm datasets for public-good innovation and policy.

  • Competitive agri research grants
  • Annual open agri-data publication
  • Rural agri-tech incubator & IP generation
  • Evidence-based policy & advocacy

Climate & Decarbonisation

Climate technologies, carbon intelligence, and resilience solutions that turn adaptation into supplemental income — with machine-verified MRV making smallholder credits credible.

  • Climate-smart villages: ICM, agroforestry, paddy AWD
  • Smallholder carbon credits under VM0042
  • Low-cost soil health testing with KVKs
  • Water stewardship & climate finance
An extraordinary institutional inheritance

We don't start from zero. We start from an existing network of 13 Million farmers.

Each company asset maps to a specific Foundation lever — the advisory platform, the data, and the last-mile network — used compliantly, at arm's length, under formal licence and a public data-governance policy.

15,000+
Last-mile centres as delivery points for literacy camps, training & scheme enrolment
13 Million
Farmer registry to target the most vulnerable, responsive segments
30+
Advisory crops, offered free to sub-acre marginal farmers
503
FPOs as project developers for carbon, credit & collective bargaining
14 yrs
Brand equity & founder credibility — a high-trust non-profit from day one

The flywheel principle. Foundation impact generates data and learnings that improve the platform for every farmer; company assets extend Foundation reach into geographies no commercial model can justify. Impact and infrastructure compound each other.
